Atlas therapy was developed in Arles/France by Dr Albert Arlen (1925-1992), he recognised the atlas as a focus with regard to many ailments and diseases, and developed this effective atlas therapy. It is a method of treating the first cervical vertebrae; it particularly effects changes to the central nervous system and enhances vascular circulation to the brain. The therapy often plays an important role in reducing muscle tension in a number of painful conditions or neurological diseases. Best results are achieved with atlas therapy in the treatment of dizziness, vertigo,headaches, ear and hearing problems and eye sight.

In the 1980’s Narendra Mehta, a blind Osteopath and massage therapist from India based in London, incorporated the traditional techniques into a treatment designed to be given with the receiver seated in an ordinary chair, with additional work to the upper back and shoulders, upper arms, neck and face, also including work on the higher subtle energy centres of the body.

It is excellent for conditions such as neck and shoulder tension, tension headaches, sinus symptoms, and eye strain..and for simple relaxation.

The workshop has a duration of 13 hours (Sat and Sun 9.30am – 5.30pm ), with a maximum of 10 participants. It is mainly hands-on work together with detailed notes.

Reiki is a Japanese word that means Universal Energy, at times called Universal Life Force Energy. It is a very special and a specific type of hands-on energetic healing system.

Reiki is not a religion or a cult, but can generously open you to the leaning of outer spiritual realities and dimensions. The person is attuned to this energy, but has to keep in mind that s/he will function only as a conduit of this energy.

It is through the accessing of the energy of the Divine, or Spirit, that the Healing is able to happen and for the balancing of the body on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Through the energy work, some energy blocks are smoothly removed to allow the body’s own healing abilities to awaken. Reiki is not intrusive, nor is it manipulative. It is important to understand that the opportunity to participate in the Healing process and to share Healing with others is a “spiritual gift”. “As Reiki Healers, we are conduits of compassion.”

Reiki is passed on by a Reiki Master to the student through a process called an attunement. This attunement opens the student to the Reiki energy. It requires no special background or “skills” and is able to be used immediately. A good analogy for this is a garden hose. While every hose has the ability to flow water at some level, the hose that has been unkinked and straightened (the attunement process) can flow much better. It is through the practice of these methods that knowledge transmutes to wisdom and the Reiki Practitioner becomes a true Reiki Master.
